After the completion of his Ph.D. thesis, he carried out his military obligation, and from November 2000 until April 2008 he was with the Research and Development Division of INTRACOM S.A. (INTRACOM TELECOM from January 2006), mainly working on topics related to the development and design of VLSI circuits and embedded systems for wireless network applications.
Initially, he was the coordinator of five research projects funded by the Hellenic General Secretariat for Research and Technology. within the context of Operational Programme for Research & Technology (OPRT II). Four of them concerned the design and fabrication of printed circuit boards for high-energy physics applications. The fifth project concerned the implementation study in hardware of a videophone for deaf persons.
From mid 2001 until mid 2005 he acted as project manager in several IST projects (EASY, INTRALED, ANTITESYS). The objectives of these projects were the realization of an energy-aware system-on-chip implementing the functionality of a 5 GHz wireless LAN system (EASY), and the advanced training of the European engineers on the design of low-power circuits and systems (INTRALED), and on the design of embedded systems (ANTITESYS) in order to enhance their knowledge on these issues.
From September 2004 until May 2007, he was the project manager of a national research project dealing with the development of a baseband modem for outdoor broadband wireless networks (co-funded by the Hellenic General Secretariat for Research and Technology within the context of Operational Programme Competitiveness).
From January 2006 until April 2008, he acted as a subproject leader within the integrated project AETHER (Self-adaptive embedded technologies for pervasive computing architectures) co-funded by the European Commission (FP6).
During his collaboration with the company, he has undertaken the preparation and the submission of several projects' proposals to the European Commission (FP5, FP6, FP7) and the Hellenic General Secretariat for Research and Technology. In addition, from April 2004 until December 2004, he was a member of a team aiming to the development of business plans for the new products of the company with emphasis on the wireless networks area. He was also worked for the financial management of the company's R&D projects.
